Live debut of PHINE GAGE at Hollow Earth Radio June 22nd
Posted By kirsten on 05/23/2013 at 10:24PM
Hollow Earth Radio is pleased to present the live debut of Phine Gage, a new project from Eric Moon of Crown Hill Repeater. CHR has been a Seattle mainstay of experimental electronic music, and Phine Gage takes the same experimentation in a dark and, at times, avant-garde direction.
Ambient drone outfit Time Eater create cinematic, thoughtful soundscapes worthy of some serious meditation, with support from Tacoma producer Simic, introduced to us through the award-winning college radio station KUPS. Simic's echoing synths and hypnotic drums recall Kangding Ray or Burzum's electronic exploits.
SATURDAY, JUNE 22ND

Seattle Weekly Bets on The Hollow Earth Radio Showcase At Folklife!
Posted By DJ Garrett on 05/22/2013 at 06:08PM
You going to Folklife this year? We'll be broadcasting periodically from the VERA stage throughout the weekend and we even have our own SHOWCASE this year. The Weekly suggests you attend (and so do we)!
IT WILL BE LIKE NOTHING YOU'VE EVER SEEN AT FOLKLIFE BEFORE.
"Hollow Earth Radio Showcase Sunday, May 26, 7–10 p.m. From its studio in the Central District, grassroots online radio station Hollow Earth provides outside-the-bandwidth music and other creative audio thoughts for adventurous ears, which makes it a natural choice for the loose-form, art-forward Folklife festival. This year, Hollow Earth’s showcase features eerie sound-capture technicians Scorpio Scorpio Scorpio (from the band’s bio: “Live performances occur primarily around the Solstice/Equinox”); edgy improv noisemaker Eric Ostrowski; left-field singer/songwriter Autococoon; and inventive singer/multi-instrumentalist Sokai Stilhed (pronounced “sockeye steelhead”). Altogether, a great fit for such an eclectic festival. Vera Project. TODD HAMM. Seattle Weekly
HERE'S A VIDEO OF NW FIDDLE LEGEND ERIC OSTROWSKI !!!!!
And here are the lovely (and haunting) sounds of Sokai Stilhed! (A longtime Hollow Earth Radio favorite. THIS IS A RARE TREAT - DO NOT MISS THIS
Avant folk from Autococoon!
AND BLACK METAL ON POTS AND PANS w/ SCORPIO SCORPIO SCORPIO.

Give Big To Hollow Earth Radio TODAY!
Posted By DJ Garrett on 05/15/2013 at 06:10PM
The Seattle Foundation’s Give BIG is a one-day, online charitable giving event to inspire people to give generously to nonprofit organizations - a percentage of every dollar donated will be matched by the Seattle Foundation and GiveBIG sponsors. This year, Hollow Earth Radio is participating and we could use your help more than ever. As you may know, recent legislation has opened up new opportunities for community radio stations to apply for Low Power FM licenses and Hollow Earth is in the running to claim one of these frequencies in Seattle. In order to prepare ourselves for the transition to FM broadcasting, we will need major studio upgrades. To participate in Give Big and help out your local community radio station, visit Hollow Earth Radio’s page on the Seattle Foundation Website.
