While Google says that driving from Seattle to Anacortes will take just over an hour and a half, I will tell you that, on the weekends, it will take much, much longer. Therefore, it's a wise move to plan now for the Anacortes Unknown Music Series, happening July 13th, 14th, & 15th. With a lineup including:
Dylan Carson, Grouper, Karl Blau, Mount Eerie, Lake, Ô Paon, Lori Goldston, Vanessa Renwick, D+, Boquet, Hungry Cloud Darkening, Sleepy Lagoon, Motorbikes, Dennis Driscoll, Lovers Without Borders, Mikey Going Down, and Takhoma, you probably won't want to sleep on this too much longer.
Most exciting to me is that the flyer appends Grouper's name with the words "sleep loops." I have no idea how the logistics of this event are going to work out, but in my fantasy, I imagine being in my tent, worn out from running around Anacortes all day, and drifting off to a distant P.A. being coaxed from the ether by Liz Harris.
Aside from an amazing lineup of artists, the weekend's events include movie screenings, a book fair & readings, and a dinner on Saturday night. The fest is occurring at several venues throughout the city, including Causland Park, the Croatian Club, and the Unknown: a space located in an empty Catholic church.
Remaining passes are $40 and can be purchased directly from the Unknown site.
