On Saturday September 17th Hollow Earth Radio will be hosting an installation of new art by Shana Cleveland (DJ Crawdad Cleveland) entitled "In the evening heat we ate cookies like meat", a collection of black and white illustrated portraits based on early rock and roll promo shots.
To celebrate we booked a killer night of mellow moods featuring Thousands (of Seattle, freshly home from a couple months of touring Europe (with Tuneyards) and the US), Olympia's Eleanor Murray, Canadian strangefolker Ora Cogan, and Shana Cleveland and the Sandcastles.
There will also be homemade chocolate peanut butter whoopie pies made by an actual person from the state of Maine (true birthplace of the whoopie pie--Shut up Pennsylvania!).

BREAK-FEST: The Anti-Festival.
October 15th, 2011 ~ 11am-2pm
Hollow Earth Radio loves festivals & we know we've seen you at quite a few of them throughout the year - but by the end of the summer, we're DONE. We don't want to stand in another long line for the bathroom or sip another expensive beer through our chapped lips. It's in times like this we'd do anything for just a wonderful home-cooked breakfast with friends and a little soft rock. What if we told you we could make your dreams come true?
A Festival In A Home??
When Hollow Earth Radio first started we did our little online broadcast out of the basement of a residential home. And even though we've moved on to a rad public space in the Central District, we think that same mood has carried with us; listeners tell us that tuning in feels like hanging out with friends in their home. We're comfy homemade radio.
When planning this event we thought - let's get RIDICULOUSLY literal. Let's have an ANTI-FESTIVAL where we invite you into our homes, eat together, and raise some of the needed funds for the upcoming year. Let's take a break from all the festivals. (Get it?)
Register here: http://hollowearthradiobrunch.eventbrite.com/
Here's how it will work.
RSVP to attend our Fall Fundraising Brunch.Register here: http://hollowearthradiobrunch.eventbrite.com/
One week prior to the event, we'll email you with directions to a private home in Seattle, WA where you'll enjoy a home-cooked meal with up to 10 other supporters.
If you think your friends would enjoy supporting Hollow Earth Radio, please invite them to attend as well.
All you have to do is bring a checkbook or a pillow case full of money and show up in your PJ's (and that's optional). Piece of cake (actual cake probably not provided)!
To find out more information, go here: http://hollowearthradiobrunch.eventbrite.com/
If you do not live in Seattle, and you cannot attend this event, we welcome you to make a donation online to Hollow Earth Radio. We rely on individual donations to keep Hollow Earth Radio running. Your donation will support our online operating costs, and our ability to continue documenting local live performances, media arts workshops and more! All donations are tax deductible.
Just click our Donate Now! image above and you'll be taken to paypal. Anything helps!

Dearest internet, I imagine you've been thinking to yourself recently - well, who is this Newton, anyway? The name has been whispered in cafeterias, at office meetings, and it has permeated your consciousness in myriad, unexplainable ways. And, it is a good question, and I am here to help answer it for you. Clearly you are not alone. Others have been asking. A bank associate has. A fireman. Your grandmother. The answer lays before us.
Now you know.

WORST MARIACHI BAND. EVER.

Iconic, though virtually unknown, blues/folk/punk rocker Paul K will be on the air live (via Skype) tonight at 9 (PST). That’s Thursday, Sept 1st, right here on Hollow Earth Radio.
Although he is well known in his home town of Lexington, Kentucky, and in spite of the fact that he has been churning out legendary albums with his band, Paul K and the Weathermen, since the late 1980’s, Paul K is unknown throughout most of the world.
But it’s only a matter of time before he will be universally recognized as a legend. Will he have to wait until after he dies for this to occur? I sure hope not. Tune in and help make a difference while he is in top form.
Here’s a link to a great article about Paul K: http://www.sugarbuzzmagazine.com/bands/paulk/paulkweathermen.html
And here are links to a few of my favorite Paul K songs. It may take a few seconds for them to load, but I checked the links. They all work:
The Doctor Will See You Now
(two songs) Haunt Me Till I'm Gone/The Grid
You Should've Seen It Coming
Rest Your Head
